Bored...

I really hate going to class, and doing homework, and a lot of other things as anyone who's eaten with me would know. Here's something to get me my AFI fix:

Aliens, Demons, and King!

So...I'm starting a new novel, although I shouldn't really say new because I've never actually finished one. I've written a pretty good collection of short stories though. It's about the single most scary thing any human being can imagine...aliens!
I can't say exactly when my fear of aliens escalated, maybe it was when I heard it spoken by Bush, anything from that man is scary. No, I'm not talking about ILLEGAL aliens, I'm talking about those tall green guys with huge eyes, you know, the one's that like to talk on baby monitors... Aliens have freaked me out for the longest time, and I once spent three straight hours researching supposed real abductions and crop circles, and I couldn't sleep that night. Every time I turned over I was sure Mr. Grey would be leaning over me, mayonnaise and bacon smeared cross his cheeks like a devil grin while he incapacitated me, a little irrational, I know, but it felt legit at the time.
So the new book is about them, it'll have all of the most scary "true" stories that I can find online all comprised to happen to one character in a fictionalized way. I really kinda feel bad for my character already, he's just a security guard...what did he ever do wrong? I think i'll let him live though, it just seems too harsh to kill someone by aliens, too scary.
Let me know if you disagree with my fear of aliens, because truly I can think of nothing scarier!
Now, onto demons. Most recently used in the film Paranormal Activity, demons also have a certain horror force field around them that makes them worse then other scary monster and I'm pretty sure that this is because of their relation to religion. Religion is scary, bottom line. If you believe in the almighty power you MUST believe in the opposite. The demon is scary because it is real. You know that and you are afraid. The movie Paranormal Activity did a great job at showing how unbelieving people come to act when they are being haunted by a demon. I won't spoil anything but the film leaves every person with a dread of being alone, which is probably the reason for the tagline "Don't watch it alone", too late, I already made that mistake. Overall, it's a great film and it portrays the demon best by not showing it at all, we'll let our imaginations wonder...

So, the greatest writer of all time, Stephen King, has a new novel coming out soon, Under the Dome, and I just had to give a shout out to that!

The Saw Franchise

Okay, so I don't want to take responsibility right now and do the homework that i'm paying for with these high tuitions, but instead i would like to take some time out of my sleepless night (probably) and talk a little about what I consider to be one of the greatest franchises ever created and why I think this.

First off, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and the iconic figure of Freddy Krueger make my day...any day. Until the end, that franchise was the best ever, it held that certain charm little found in popular horror films in that it was horror and yet it had almost constant comic relief, which sucked out none of the scare out of the greatest horror scenes ever filmed.

That held true until I was graced with Saw.

By far one of the most thought provoking horror films of our time it has a message that basically borders along "an eye for an eye", with a twist.

Of course the movies drawn in millions of people each halloween because of the blood and gore, but I think that all of the hardcore fans, of which i think I classify as, go to see the movies because it gives them something to think about. Which is something that sets them apart from most other horror movies, they are not straightforward and so they leave much interpretation...and that awesome twist at the end of each one.

I think that there is no reason to see a movie if it does not give you something to mull over when it is all said and done. And so far, every film in the series has added more and more to the series (no spoilers here...some people reading this haven't seen the third film), even when it seems like there is no where for them to go anymore. And that they have exhausted all of their resources.

Every year I am left waiting for the next film and every year i am in awe when I walk out of the theater with an experience far higher then my expectations have been. Kudos to the creators.

Ciao...

What's in your 604?

"That's the best costume I've seen in my 604!"

First posts a charm...

You knew it was going to happen sooner or later. I mean, who doesn't want to spend at least ten minutes a day reading a little about what's going on in my mind, don't worry...i'll keep the lights on. Be careful though, this time of year seems to bring the demons out, along with the ghosties, but as long as they don't start using my mouth outside of the blog thenI think i'm a-ok! Comment if you like, catch up tomorrow...
